Best open world games

take your pick. The best open world games are often as much about exploration and discovery as they are about action or even skill. Here’s our list of some of best PS4 open-world game titles: Batman: Arkham Knight, Mad Max, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and The Crew. Your choices will be varied enough to suit any gamer out there, whether they favor racing simulation or first-person shooter action. For those looking for a gaming experience that offers a little more realism and strategy, check out the likes of FIFA 15 or Star Wars Battlefront from EA Sports. And if you’re looking for an immersive virtual reality experience that takes you into another realm entirely, look no further than upcoming releases such as Ace Combat 7 and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. There’s something for everyone!

1) Dead Rivals – Zombie MMO

Dead Rivals is a multiplayer, zombie survival game with MMO features. Create your own character and explore a post-apocalyptic wasteland full of zombies. Team up with friends to build a base, craft weapons and vehicles, defend your home from hordes of brain-hungry monsters, hunt them down and fight back to reclaim our land! In the process you’ll level up your survivor and their skills to make them even more deadly in combat. Join us on this journey through the wastelands where humanity struggles for survival against both the infected hordes and it’s enemies. The choice of whether or not to choose life or death is yours, but remember that there are no second chances out here – if you die, that’s it.
Use stealth and wit to avoid running into a zombie – think they’re dead? Think again – they’re waiting for the right moment when they can grab you by surprise.
Dead Rivals has been created as an ode to classic RPGs with many modern twists.

2) Gangster Rio: City Of Saints

This action-adventure game lets you become a powerful gangster in Rio de Janeiro. The enormous and detailed map gives you complete freedom as to how you want to conquer and rule over it. Become a respected capo of one of Rio’s dangerous gangs and claim everything from drug dealing, extortion, or even actual political elections! Every building or street is yours for taking. In the game’s story mode, you’re able to take on side missions that offer different rewards for completing them. But if you want the ultimate challenge, go on the multiplayer mode where your goal is not only ruling your city but also make sure no other player can come close to doing so either. The best part about this game is that it has an endless amount of potential: after all, we haven’t even scratched the surface of what this vast universe has to offer.

3) Ark: Survival Evolved

An open-world game set in a prehistoric era, Ark: Survival Evolved tasks players with scrounging for supplies and crafting weapons to fend off other dinosaurs. Its vast, hand-crafted terrain is about as close as you can get to actually living within a dinosaur’s stomach—but with fewer incisors. The weather system is also notoriously unpredictable, which lends the whole experience an air of unpredictability that’s not always present in other survival titles. Though it’s still largely unfinished, this title has already been heralded by critics as one of the best survival games on the market.
It’ll keep you entertained for hours at a time without ever getting boring or repetitive thanks to its procedurally generated map system that ensures there are always new things to find and explore around every corner. Plus, it includes some of the most beautiful graphics seen on console yet. For any fans of survival horror who are looking for something more realistic than Resident Evil 7 (or more ambitious than Outlast), Ark: Survival Evolved should be right up your alley.

4) Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas

San Andreas got everything right. Rockstar Games set out to build a vast, detailed, and as close to real as possible recreation of California during its late-’90s heyday. The developer wanted players to feel like they were in control of their own destinies within that setting. It wanted them to explore, take things at their own pace, and embrace a sense of freedom not typically offered by video games—the feeling that you can do whatever you want. And it succeeded. After taking over the role of one Carl Johnson, I spent hours traversing Los Santos (Los Angeles), Las VENTURAS (Las Vegas), and everywhere in between. I called Grove Street my home turf; hunted down gang members for an ex-girlfriend who felt betrayed; took on missions from crooked cops; and started owning nightclubs when I was running low on cash. A game with this much to offer is hard to come by. But don’t let its size fool you: San Andreas packs a lot into every inch of its map, and even after dozens of hours playing through it for this retrospective, I still haven’t found all there is to see. As daunting as this open world experience may be, however, even those with less time can find satisfaction thanks to Grand Theft Auto ONLINE’s engaging online heists system

5) Mad Max

Is an isometric action role-playing game set in an open world environment and played from a third-person perspective. It is based on Avalanche Studios’ own Avalanche Engine. Gameplay follows a similar pattern to other such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, with players able to explore large, nonlinear levels to complete quests at their leisure. Max can be equipped with gear that has been purchased or scavenged during exploration. Some gameplay elements are reminiscent of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption series, namely the use of Max’s car which the player must maintain for optimum performance by changing the oil, filling the gas tank, repairing damaged parts, etc. and Max’s dog who can find items for Max to pick up and/or attack enemies . Combat is primarily melee-based, though there are firearms available for combat as well. One significant aspect of combat is the ability to chain attacks together into combos; the longer the combo chain, the more time spent on delivering damage before being interrupted by an enemy counterattack.
