With over 1 billion users, China has the largest number of internet users in the world—and that number continues to grow daily.

A recent report from Internet Live Stats states that about 81% of Chinese people use mobile phones to access the internet. That’s nearly 1 billion smartphones! Most Chinese people have more than one mobile device, and many have smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers all hooked up to the internet at home or work.

That makes sense considering China has the most internet users in the world by far, but it means more competition for developers and app makers looking to gain visibility on mobile devices.

1.WeChat

WeChat is a messaging and social media app that was released in 2011. As of 2019, it had one billion monthly active users. WeChat is the most popular app in China and is used for messaging, calls, and other features such as games, news, and payments. The basic version of the app is free to download but additional features are available with paid upgrades. Many people use this app because it has many functions which help them organize their lives and keep up with friends, family, work, and school. Some disadvantages include possible privacy risks and scams. There are also many fake accounts, including those from celebrities and companies. For example, an individual could create a fake account of someone famous and share false information about them or send out links to malware sites. Another concern is that anyone could access your conversations if they have your phone number or email address (although you have to enable notifications before they will be able to see anything). If you ever get a call or message from someone you don’t know, there’s no way to tell whether it’s actually coming from who they say they are until after the fact. Scams like these cost victims $1 million dollars every day! Fortunately, weChat offers a few solutions to prevent scammers from taking advantage of its platform. Users can report any suspicious messages or content by tapping report next to the offending post or thread. You’ll then receive confirmation prompts asking if you really want to report the post and delete it. These types of posts typically reappear though so make sure you stay vigilant by reporting any new posts that appear as well.

Weibo is a social media app that allows users to share text, photos, and videos with other users. It’s one of the most popular apps in China with over 500 million monthly active users. Weibo has been a key platform for Chinese celebrities and public figures to engage with their fans. But it’s also used by people who don’t have fame as a way to express themselves. Users post updates about what they are doing at any given moment, which can range from mundane tasks like grocery shopping or cooking dinner to major life events like marriage proposals or birthdays.
In April 2016, Weibo added live streaming capabilities so users could broadcast themselves in real time; but this service was quickly blocked after being misused by human rights activists. To counteract this censorship, some netizens created virtual private networks (VPN) to bypass government internet restrictions and access Weibo abroad. The popularity of this site led Sina Corporation (the company behind Sina Weibo) to create a separate video game division known as Tencent Games in December 2007. In 2013, Tencent bought out minority stake in Nokia. Two years later, Microsoft acquired the part of Nokia that Tencent didn’t own.

Tencent is currently worth over $275 billion USD and is one of the largest companies in Asia. The name Tencent means to make something an actuality in English, and the company’s mission statement claims they want to bring digital prosperity to everyone.

By now you’ve probably heard of WhatsApp – the Facebook-owned messaging app that is often called the world’s most popular messenger. And it isn’t just because there are 1.2 billion monthly active users on the platform. Sure, having more than 1 billion people using your product sounds impressive. However, if we consider how many countries there are in the world, we’ll see that the reach of WeChat dwarfs WhatsApp.

Youku is one of the most popular video streaming platforms in China. It has a wide selection of content, including TV shows, movies, and user-generated videos. Youku is also available on mobile devices, making it convenient for users to watch their favorite shows on the go.
